Heather Ryan Photography: A Naval Academy and Annapolis Yacht Club Wedding

Lauren and LJ were married on Saturday. Their timeless Annapolis wedding day was a true stunner! As both are graduates from the US Naval Academy, getting married at the Chapel made perfect sense. Lauren walked down the aisle to a string quartet and it was absolutely incredible.

They were fortunate to enjoy especially spectacular weather allowing plenty of time for photos outdoors on the Academy grounds. They had a first look at Tecumseh Court, then we stopped by the Red Beach, and the Superintendent's Garden - offering unparalleled views of the copper Chapel dome. Masks are currently required anywhere indoors and we found some creative ways to photograph the couple masked and indoors at the iconic Bancroft Hall. Following their ceremony we hopped onto a trolly and headed into Downtown Annapolis for their reception at the Annapolis Yacht Club. We snagged some photos on the docks before L+L joined their guests at cocktail hour and then had their grand entrance.

Details were impeccable. From Lauren's Badgley Mischkas, to their invitation suite and luscious florals... it was a dream! True adventurers, these two have traveled the world together and each of the tables at their reception had a different location featured. Both Lauren and LJ are active duty - thank you for your service!! The two actually met for the first time in Alaska, while on a 26 day backpacking trip with the Academy's NOLS program. During their reception LJ shared a story about meeting his wife for the first time and thinking to himself "what if this is the woman I'm going to marry?"
