On Saturday I joined Sarah and Matt as they were married at the Annapolis Maritime Museum in a picturesque waterfront ceremony. They started dating six years ago at Penn State and currently live in Cincinnati, OH but came back to Sarah's hometown to tie the knot! It was a gorgeous summer day with the possibility of thunderstorms in the forecast, and we got lucky with a bit of rain in the evening that produced the most beautiful backdrop for photos.
I joined Sarah in the afternoon at her childhood home as she was getting ready with her parents, sisters, soon to be Mother-in-law, grandmothers and friends. She enjoyed not one but two first looks with her bridesmaids and family, and later with Matt's groomsmen who are also her close friends. If you do not want to see your groom-to-be in a first look on your wedding day, I highly encourage you to have one with your family and friends. It is such a memorable and fun moment to share with those you love! There were so many tears of joy -- me included! Following their tented ceremony on the docks, with the sound of waves crashing underneath, we photographed a few bridal party photos just as a small thunderstorm rolled through and we pulled out the umbrellas. It left as quickly as it came and you can see the rain in the distance of their newlywed portraits. Sarah and Matt also left a few minutes during their reception for sunset photos and the evening sky was truly out of this world. At the end of the night the couple and their friends caught a water taxi to DTA for the after party -- so fun!
There were so many special details throughout their day. Sarah's grandfather officiated their wedding ceremony, she wore her mother's pearl earrings that her mother wore on her own wedding day, Italian and Jewish traditions were incorporated into their ceremony and reception, and Sarah's cousin (the amazing Rachel of Floral and Bloom Designs!) perfectly decorated the space with the most impeccable displays.
Sarah + Matt -- goodness, thank you for choosing me as your wedding photographer!! You are both so beautiful inside and out and it has been a pure joy working with you and your families. Congratulations again! I hope you are enjoying your honeymoon!!! xo, H
