2016 | A Year in Review

2016.  Twenty Sixteen!  Wow, what a year.  I experienced some of my biggest highs and biggest lows this year.  Overall, it was a learning experience and I gained a lot of wisdom, but it was a bumpy road.  When people always ask "do you want the good news or the bad news first?"  I always want the bad first, so we can sweeten things up with the GOOD at the end ;-)

My personal life this year was, well honestly, a bit of a roller coaster.  Know all those hashtags popping up ready for 2016 to end?  Yeah, I'm on that bandwagon too.  It was a tough one.  In February on Valentine's Day we lost someone very important to us, and just like that our lives flipped and turned upside down.  The loss has been profound and impacted so very much.  Admittedly, I have put on a few pounds of stress and worry weight (thank you, cortisol!) but that is changing next year.  I'm shifting my attention from always focusing on those around me, to thinking more about myself!

Professionally, this year was the biggest yet!!  **Insert happy dance here**  I worked with some of the BEST clients and vendors I could have ever dreamed of.  I reveled in gorgeous sunrises and sunsets with couples so beautifully in love, and I watched as families I adore grew larger.  I photographed weddings in some of the most glamorous venues, rustic barns, extravagant churches, courthouses, and picturesque family backyards.  I documented first steps, a senior prom, birthdays, milestones, anniversaries!  Guys: my client's JOY filled and fueled me this year!!  I am so grateful to each and every one of my clients for allowing me to witness and photograph these precious moments.  It's impossible to put into words how much it has meant to me.  Just yesterday, one of my favorite brides left a review on WeddingWire that brought me to happy tears.  As I am closing down my 7th year of business, I am so excited for what is to come.  My heart is full.  I have - literally - the best job ever.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I am looking forward to what 2017 holds.  Professionally I am excited for a BIG year!  I have some incredible weddings already booked and have a few dates remaining.  If you're considering reaching out to me to chat about your wedding photos, now is the time!

Below are just a few favorite images from this year.  I say a few, but in all seriousness there are (uhm) a lot of photos... I couldn't choose.  I just LOVE these happy + beautiful + silly moments!

So, sorry I'm not sorry!

Happy New Year!!

2016 wasn't all bad. In fact, here are a few iPhone shots with some personal highlights!

Bring it, 2017.
Much love,
H
