I had a feeling when Sara & Tom chose Busboys and Poets as our initial meeting spot I would love them. Plus, they were referred to me by one of my all-time favorite couples, and when that happens great things are in store. Turns out not only are they genuinely awesome people, they have an incredible story too.
Sara is a California girl who transplanted here in DC for work where she met and fell in love with Tom. I have been meeting a lot of couples lately who aren't originally from the DC Metro area, but find their other half here. City of love? Sure seems that way!
Tom is a DC high school math teacher who in recent years kicked Cancer's butt. This article of Tom showing his transformation during and after chemotherapy, donning Star Trek Halloween gear, put a smile on my face. Way to motivate others battling cancer and become an internet sensation at the same time, Tom! You are so inspirational. He met Sara while going through chemo and the two make a brilliant pair. There is a chemistry about them and their joy and happiness is infectious. I am beyond grateful for the honor to document their love!!
Extra bonus here. Tom is a bell ringer for the National Cathedral. How flipping cool is that?! I really do think it's the best. He's a very tall guy and you apparently need to have some strength to get the large bells to ring. Sara was lifted off the ground by the momentum of the rope! :) It only made sense for them to have their engagement session in the Bishop's Garden at the National Cathedral. It's a stunning location to boot.
Congratulations again you two -- I can't wait for your wedding in June!
